It’s been a while since I’ve done a Thrifty Thursday
post mainly because I don’t come across “thrifty” things as often as I wished!
This week though I wanted to share my genius upcycle.
I’ve been pining for this laundry room set up from
Ana-White for a couple of months now:
But 1) I would never build it, 2) Preacher Man would never build it, and 3) I don’t know if I would want something permanent in our small laundry room
This summer Monkey has potty-trained {insert huge,
thunderous applause!} so the old changing table that’s been through all three
of my kids is no longer needed. I knew that I wanted to do something with it. I
mean it has three perfectly good shelves. I tried it in the dining room where
we homeschool, but that room is pretty much at saturation point for furniture.
Then I thought…..would a laundry basket fit on those
shelves?
Sure enough they do! So I rolled the unused changing
table into the laundry room. It fit perfectly {the dryer door will still open
and close}, so I quickly put a laundry basket on the second shelf, I’m planning
on buying another one for the bottom shelf, and on the top shelf I have the
sock basket {unmatched sock’s home} and a basket of hangers for our air dry
clothing.
The finished product:
Not bad and super thrifty!
Cost: $2 for one new laundry basket.
Keep your eyes out for old, discarded changing tables
because they work perfectly for a quick laundry room upgrade.
Loving it when a dream becomes a reality in the tree
house,
Chelli
That's a great idea! I wish I could do something like that in our laundry room, but it's so narrow I'm not sure how I could fit it in. Such a smart way to get what you want without the permanence you don't.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I impress myself! ;)
DeleteSo smart! Do you plan to buy a basket for the lower shelf, or do you have other plans for it?
ReplyDeleteUm, wait, you said you were buying another shelf. Ignore my goofy question. It is too late. I obviously need to go to bed.
DeleteIf it makes you feel any better, you made me LOL!
