On our Thanksgiving trip to Oklahoma City this
past week, I was a schemer. Chipette’s pen pal lives in Oklahoma and I
mentioned to pen pal’s mother that we would be in Oklahoma during Thanksgiving.
We decided to surprise the girls by letting them meet in person on Thanksgiving
Day at a local park, and then eating Thanksgiving dinner together since neither
family had Thanksgiving plans.
To put it mildly, the girls were instant real life
friends with such similar personalities and interests it was surely a God thing
that they were paired up as pen pals.

Do you ever look at your kids and wonder how you made something so beautiful? |

Surprises are wonderful when they result in the
meeting of pen pals, who become real pals, in the tree house,

Yea!! What a fun post! I am so glad that we planned this meeting and they hit it off so quickly! Now they will have so much more to write about.
ReplyDeleteOr maybe one day, they'll be roommates in college!
DeleteWe had a blast. Thanks so much for making it happen!
How cool! I really need to get started on the whole penpal thing. You've inspired me!
ReplyDeleteI waited until Chipette was in second grade to sign her up because I wanted to make sure she had quite a bit of spelling and punctuation under her belt so I didn't have to spell every. single. word.
DeleteNow Magpie is begging for a pen pal, but she's not anywhere close to being ready for the writing involved, so I'm trying to hold her off until second grade as well, but it's not working! :)
That is so great!! She will have a friend for life
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty awesome! Her pen pal is a wonderful girl with a great family.
DeleteOh how fun! I remember going to visit my pen-pal when I was 13. It was great. We wrote until we both got married. I still adore her.
ReplyDeleteI think that would be so cool. What a neat relationship to have for so long!
Deletewhat a great memory!
ReplyDeleteIt was perfect!
