Wordless Wednesday: My Answer

When people think I’m crazy for driving my three children twelve hours one way to go home for Chrstmas, this is my answer:

She’s 82 years old. She is in the middle stages of Alzheimer’s. She is the only living grandparent I have left. She is the only great-grandparent that my children have ever known. She is one of the first people that they want to visit when they get to my parents’ house. She is my Grandma. She is their Nana. She is worth twelve hours in the car.

Teaching my children the importance of family and the elderly by putting my time and my gas money where my mouth is in the tree house,

  1. She may not remember you doing this, but your kids will. Good for you. I hope they will take this lesson to heart. Too many ignore the elderly and forget that they have walked in their shoes. That's a great photo!

    1. Thanks so much! She can actually still remember everyone, but has trouble with day to day functions like driving and cooking, neither of which she does anymore.

  3. So glad you made the trip. I miss my grandmother daily and wish I could have just one more afternoon tea with her.

    1. It's hard. I don't what we'll all do when she's gone. She is the glue that holds my mom's family together for holidays and such.
